:iconmichellemonique:
A gasp of breath, the corset tightens,
It takes work to achieve beauty.

A hollow gaze, a broken walk,
Any mistake becomes a weakness.

Heart of stone and frozen dreams,
Sacrifice yourself to make them look good.

Worked like a dog and never cherished,
All they ask is that you look like an angel.

A final rest, the last chore done,
Perfection achieved, but only in death.

Photo: Me

This is the sixth picture for my AP 2D portfolio. The theme is "confinement" which will be portrayed in various ways through fashion photography.

She is reaching for perfection which is something anorexics try to attain but is being held back by her weight (measuring tape)

---------------------------------------

*Disclaimer
The model is not actually anorexic or that thin. I used photo shop and lighting to make her appear thinner than she is. This picture is copyrighted and not allowed to be used on thinspo sites. They will be reported.

Confined by Anorexia by =michellemonique
The suggester writes: "Anorexism is something really deep and serious. We live in a society that is always aiming our sight and views for perfection. The media, modeling, fashion shows... This piece of art speaks for itself." ( Suggested by ~ikai-zixie and Featured by `Shalora )

I absolutely adore this picture. You can truly see the emotion and the feeling in the shot, it portrays the desperation of the model very nicely. I feel that if the shot had been taken on a different surface with a different background it would have been better, plain white with shadows perhaps to really focus in on the darkness of the disease. On another note, the clothing choice is lovely, the hair and the makeup go along very well and bring more of the morbid side to the picture. Also the tape measurer around the waist and wrapped up the body is a perfect touch to the whole thing, it annunciates the deathly feeling of being trapped which is what I get when I look at it. The thin arms and small hands give the impression of weakness to me, I think that was perfect. The fact that that weakness, trapped, is still reaching for the perfection speaks to me. The only other point I have is how detached the word perfection is from the rest of the poster, I would like to have seen it more connected to the whole thing (by maybe a black rather than white line), and perhaps the body at a bit of a angle. Wonderful work though, I really enjoy it.

This is lovely; it really portrays the horrors and obsessions of anorexia. The darkness around her eyes is a nice touch, making the model appear more hollow and desperate to reach her goal. Another interesting touch is the word "dead" underneath "perfection," showing the relationship between the two and how they relate to anorexia. But what I especially liked about this picture is is measuring tape, portraying both a metaphoric and literal form of confinement. The tape is not the only thing holding her back from what she desires; her weight, as you said, holds her back from what she thinks of as "perfection," which is really starving herself, as is the way of thinking of anorexic girls. Overall, well done.
